Empowering Actors and Directors
Empowering Actors & Filmmakers with Hollywood-Level Training in the Heart of Europe
Romy Irene is an internationally recognized acting coach based in Amsterdam. As Europe’s first accredited Chubbuck Acting Coach, Romy has been personally trained by Ivana Chubbuck, one of Hollywood’s most influential acting coaches.
With almost 20 years of experience, Romy has established herself as a go-to acting coach for professional actors, directors, and screenwriters seeking to push artistic boundaries and deliver emotionally compelling performances. Her expertise lies in guiding actors to access deep, psychologically complex emotions, enabling them to bring authenticity, intensity, and vulnerability to their roles.
At the core of Romy’s coaching is the Chubbuck Technique, a 12-step acting method that teaches actors to use emotions not as an end result, but as a driving force toward a goal. Instead of letting pain, insecurities, or fears create self-destructive behaviors, actors learn to transform them into fuel for action, empowerment, and breakthrough performances.
Romy Irene has worked with some of the most talented actors in and outside of Europe, including Sallie Harmsen, Matteo Franco, Yehuda Nahari Halevi, Rifka Lodeizen, Melody Klaver, Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuijzen, and Sinem Kavus, all of whom have delivered critically acclaimed performances in film and television.
Beyond individual coaching, Romy is committed to elevating the European acting community, bridging the gap between Hollywood-level training and European film and theater traditions. Her students consistently praise her for her depth of knowledge, direct yet nurturing approach, and ability to unlock an actor’s full potential.
With a growing reputation in both the Dutch and international acting industries, Romy Irene is shaping the next generation of actors and directors, helping them develop the skills necessary to deliver high-stakes, emotionally gripping performances that captivate audiences worldwide.

Frans Mouton
Romy is a true professional. I have had the opportunity to work on several scenes with her as an actor and can only say that the Chubbuck technique is a great addition to any actor’s arsenal. Romy has a keen sense of where your pain points are and knows how to make direct connections to your scene by asking pointed questions. This makes your character and scene breathe much more in a short period of time.

Celine Verbeeck
During my Chubbuck classes with Romy, I got to know myself better, not only as a performer, but especially as a person. Romy creates a safe, warm environment where there is room for discovery through trial and error. The Chubbuck technique and Romy give me the foundation I need time and time again, which gives me a lot of confidence and energy as an actress. Every class is a new adventure, and I can’t wait to continue growing together.

Bilal El-Aoumari
Romy coached me for my rol in the series ‘Laura H’ and I am super grateful to her for that. Our sessions were intense and sometimes heavy, but they allowed me to dig deeper. Thanks to her guidance I was able to discober interesting layers in my character, which helped to win a ‘Golden Calf Award’!

Cyriel Guds
Romy is a good listener so she has a good understanding of how to guide you as an actor. There is no ‘Teacher Ego’ so you feel free and safe to share personal things that will further your work as an actor. Romy is open-minded, but most of all a woman with a big heart. I hope she continues to coach actors for a very long time.

Matthijs Van De Sande Bakhuijzen
Romy is a great acting coach. Her classes are a safe place to experiment with the Chubbuck technique. She has a sharp eye and dares to push your boundaries, but at the same time is precise in her instructions. The Chubbuck technique is something I have been looking for all along. A technique with practical tools and concrete steps that serve to make the line between fiction and non-fiction as thin as possible and allow you to make games dangerous. Really dangerous, and scary, because you are working with everything that is you. The Chubbuck technique has opened the doors for me to a dimension that is infinite and both terrifies and excites me, both make me feel confident and incompetent: exactly the area you need to be in to grow. I am grateful: acting has become a great new journey for me.

Charlotte Peters
What is so unique about Romy is that she does far more than guide and facilitate the actor. She has the ability to connect with her students to the point of creating a safe bubble. In doing so, one can dredge up the deepest and most raw emotions from real life and harness what one can often describe as “that shit” in order to turn it to gold. She doesn’t just teach the technique and craft of acting; she teaches the individual how to be a better actor. To represent our unified humanity, an actor needs to understand their own. Romy walks this journey hand in hand with you, helping you to find the truth, so that you can offer it to others in your performance. Romy gets you to the point where you can let go and live your character’s life in the moment the director calls “action”. The Chubbuck technique is a harmonious marriage of craft and method. Romy is your facilitator and there is no better woman, whom I’ve worked with to do the job!
