How This Workshop Works
Preparation
Before the workshop read the first 12 chapters of Ivana Chubbuck’s book “The Power of the Actor, REVISED AND UPDATED“.
Two weeks before the first session, you will receive a scene and script.
Your task is to prepare your scene using the 12 Chubbuck tools and schedule 2 to 4 rehearsals with your scene partner.
First Workshop Day
The day begins with an introduction to the Chubbuck Technique. You’ll learn how to trigger emotional memory for a scene and how to create chemistry with your partner. Each participant will perform their scene, after which Romy will guide you in further personalizing your character. You’ll take notes not only on your own work but also on the other participants’ scenes. There will be time for questions and feedback to refine your choices and strengthen your performance.
Second Workshop Day
The second day focuses on performance and detail work. You’ll explore adding more obstacles, trying different versions of the scene, and pushing your choices further. Directors will also learn how to communicate effectively with actors, create a safe working environment to get the best performances and make impactful artistic choices that resonate with the audience.
