Romy has been teaching acting workshops in London and The Netherlands. Privately she has worked with professional actors, both in The Netherlands and abroad. Because she is multilingual, she can also travel and teach abroad on request (minimum 8 actors).
Romy organizes Ivana’s annual master class in London and she has been a source of information for many European actors who want to spend some in Los Angeles and take classes at the Chubbuck studio.
Two-day Acting Workshop
This is an intense (weekend) workshop where the actor works with scenes using the Chubbuck Technique. The participants will have to read and familiarize themselves with the first twelve chapters of Ivana’s book, The Power of the Actor.
Two weeks prior to the workshop, the actors and actresses will receive a scene from a film or theatre play. They will also get the contact details of their respective scene partner. In addition to individual work, the actors will have to invest at least 4 hours of time with their scene partner to prepare for the workshop.
During the first workshop day, Romy will critique the actors’ performances. The actors will be expected to rehearse that evening and incorporate her notes and recommendations into their scenes. During the second day, there will be more time to work on the scene. The goal is to achieve a great performance.
This workshop usually takes place in Amsterdam or Rotterdam. We can plan workshops in other European cities, on special request.
Chubbuck Technique On-going Course
This course is a weekly on-going evening class and gives the actor the possibility to become more proficient in the Chubbuck Technique. Romy’s teaching style personalizes the Chubbuck Technique in the same way as Ivana teaches at her Chubbuck Studio in Los Angeles. The on-going class is from September 15th till June 15th. Only for experienced actors.
Private coaching
Audition preparation, script analysis, and character development are available on demand. Contact Romy and she will help to prepare you for an important audition. She can help you to make the most effective choices for the audition. Audition preparation can usually be scheduled at short notice.
She is also working with actors who have won a part in a series, movie or play and who want to prepare for their role before the director’s production rehearsals begin. This preparation helps the actor to add dimension to the character. This extra dimension of character leads to unexpected and exciting choices for the actor. What results is a living, breathing character of flesh and blood that possesses several psychological layers.
Private coaching can be done in person or on skype. In some cases, communication can also be done by email or telephone.

Ivana Chubbuck is the founder of the Chubbuck Studio in Los Angeles. Every day of the week (with the exception of Friday) there are ‘ongoing’ acting classes on 3 different levels: 16 classes per week. Every class is 3 to 3.5 hours. All students of the studio, are invited to audit all the other classes besides participating in their own class.
